From the homily
All of us are familiar with the caresses fathers and mothers give their children when they have had a fright: "don’t be scared, I’m here; I’m in love with your smallness; I’m in love with your smallness, your nothingness". And: "do not be afraid of your sins, I love you; I am here to forgive you". This is the mercy of God.
The Lord wants to shoulder our weaknesses, our sins, or weariness. How often did Jesus make us feel this and then say: “Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." [full text]
